In the technical program of the 14th EUROGRAPHICS Workshop on Graphics and Cultural Heritage, a session on “3D Mass Digitization – Future Trends, Challenges and Opportunities” was included.

Here practitioners and researchers discussed future trends, challenges and opportunities of 3D mass digitization in order to better implement and make use of large-scale digitization in the long term. Besides, further research related topics were defined to shape future work in this area.

As a follow-up to this meeting, a position paper has been compiled to summarize all the contributions, including the input from an additional session taking place at the 15th EUROGRAPHICS Workshop on Graphics and Cultural Heritage on 27 September 2017 in Graz, Austria.

The position paper is meant to be published for policy use and to be included in respective research agendas.
